Inspired - Edvard Munch - The Scream

Edvard Munch's The Scream is one of the most instantly recognizable images in art history. Painted in 1893, it captures a moment of anxiety against a surreal, swirling sky. Multiple versions exist, but the most famous hangs in the National Gallery of Norway. Munch described the inspiration after a walk at sunset, when the sky suddenly turned blood red and he felt “a great, infinite scream pass through nature.” The backdrop, a real view from a hill in Oslo, takes on an otherworldly quality through Munch's use of color and distortion. Each tube in the Inspired series doubles as a vibrant display, packed with Plus-Plus pieces in colors drawn from iconic artworks— in this case, bold reds, deep blues, and muted grays of Munch's The Scream. Inside every Inspired item, you'll find an educational flyer that dives into the life of each artist—exploring their unique style, story, and the emotions behind their work.
