It's Okay to be Small is a childrens' book about a small dog named Sparky. The book is a short story narrated by Sparky. Sparky's owner is a young boy named Sam. Living next door is a man who owns a large dog. Each page has an adventure in which Sparky seems to have no problems with the situation but the big dog usually has problems. The breed Sparky represents is a Norwich Terrier and the large dog represents a Bernese Mountain Dog. Even though the big dog usually gets in trouble, there are several pages where is also "Okay".
